Happy Halloween

Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year. Nic and I NEVER need an excuse to dress up, but Halloween gives us one. With us being theatre people we love to get in costume and do freaky or cool makeup (as you can see). These are a few pictures from this past weekend. Friday, we went to a party as the Joker and Harley Quinn. Saturday we had my choir department's annual Halloween dance and we went as zombies - a mental patient and nurse. Fun stuff!!

So we are all ready for trick-or-treaters tonight! Happy Halloween everyone!

Fall 2011

It has been such a long time!

We have got to be better about updating this thing! Not much has been happening at the Carbonero house. This summer was wonderful and relaxing for both of us. We got some much needed time together after a rough year last year. Nic left his job at Marcus High School and got hired at Faith Christian in Grapevine. It has been such a magnificent change and it is such a blessing to see your significant other happy with what they are doing. The atmosphere and the people at this school is amazing and so supportive and that is exactly what he needs.

I started my 4th year of teaching at Haltom this year and it's the year where it is truly ours. The freshman when we started are now seniors and it is incredible to see the amount of change that can happen in three years. I love where I work and I LOVE the kids I work with. It has been a blessing to teach here and it is going to take A LOT for me to want to leave. I may stay here forever!

We have currently planned a trip for December to New York City. We are such fine arts nerds and LOVE this city that we are so excited to go back! Nic and I met doing a show called The Long March and after we performed it in Ireland we brought it back to the states and performed it a year later in Greenwich Village in New York City. It is such a special place for us and we are so ready to go back there. I think if we could live anywhere else it would be New York City. We have never been there around the holidays so this will be such a wondeful experience with the lights and the Christmas trees and ice skating and maybe SNOW!! Bring it!

That is pretty much all that is going on in our lives. One thing we have started to have more conversations about is starting a family together. We are both not quite ready, but we are getting closer with every day that passes. Nic will be 32 in December and I just turned 26 so I know it's around the corner for us. It is a fun topic to talk about and to try and plan for, but that may occur in the near future for us! Super pumped.

More pictures from this summer to follow...

CLOSING ON THE HOUSE!

Just a quick update...

WE ARE CLOSING ON OUR HOUSE TOMORROW MORNING AT 11AM!

More pictures will come this weekend of our big move to our first home!

Thank you for all of the prayers you have sent us. It has been a long journey (we started this whole process in July), but here we are in March about to move in. It is the start of a new era for the two of us. Since January of 2005 (when Nic and I started dating) we have been through things that most couples never have to experience or at least don't experience for a long time. Through all of these struggles, God has been so good to us. He allowed us to fall in love even though we knew that there were hard times ahead. We trudged through 3 1/2 years of the military including a one-year deployment...and yet God still gave us the opportunity to speak with one another. There were times that I would get off of the phone and often think of my grandmother and grandfather going through World War II and NOT being able to speak and hear the voice of your loved one on the phone. She went for months at a time not even receiving a letter and not knowing if my grandfather was even still living and breathing. I am so grateful that we had the chance to speak with one another. Now he is home safely and through with the military. I know it seems weird, but I feel like we are just NOW starting our journey together...even though we have been through quite a lot in the last 5 years. I can't wait to wake up in my new house and walk downstairs to get a cup of coffee in the mornings. I can't wait to let our dogs out in our own backyard now. I can't wait to paint bedrooms and bathrooms and make the house our own. I can't wait to experience all of these wonderful things with my husband in our new home.

Thank you Lord for giving us the strength and the patience to get through this together. We are only strong because of you and because of the love you have given us.

Happy New Year!

My GREAT friend, Donnie, being very silly!

2010 is going to be a a fabulous year! We got to ring in the new year together this year whereas last year, two days after new years, I drove to Killeen to pick Nic up from his deployment in Iraq. My how time flies!
We will cherish this year fully because it will be the first year since 2006 that we will have be TOGETHER. Nic went to basic training in 2006 and I never realized how much it would change the next four years of our lives...for the better. Here we are on the first day of 2010 looking ahead to whatever may come. Bring it on!!!
